Hello and goodbye, for now

Hi- so today is our last day in Cotonou and tomorrow we leave for our host families! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to write today but I do want to mention that a) I have now taken a zemidjan some places (look this up and you will see why this is a big deal) and b) I have bought some tissue (fabric, in french) and soon I'll have some great Beninois clothes! Everything else has been great, the food is good and the people are so nice and I don't mind the things that people might find problematic like bucket showers, the fact that the water stops running for hours at a time, etc. In fact, I really want to live in a more rural place and learn to live without a lot of what I'm used to.
I'm saying goodbye for the time being because as I said tomorrow we're going to our host families and I don't have internet in my village. Eric does, so hopefully he will start keeping up the blog! But I will write as much as I can.
Last thing- when you write a comment, try to not leave it as an anonymous comment because that's what some people have been doing and sometimes it's hard to tell who's writing (unless you want to remain anonymous, of course).
So, talk to you all later!

Hi Eric and Sheena,

I am Joy's friend from college and I want to wish you the best for your time in Africa and your lives together.

Joy forwarded this to us (my husband is Mitch) and I am delighted to see it. We will really enjoy following your experiences and getting to know Sheena, the blogger.

You may not get this until your home stay is over, so I hope that goes well and look forward to hearing more.

Bon Chance!

Michele and Mitch

hi eric&sheena,

once more all the best to both of you. I know you will, but please take care and look after each other. Other than that I'm not going to wish you a lot of fun, but life-time experiences. you'll find your way and the time in Benin will most certainly have a huge impact on your personalities - probably an even bigger one than Finland was for Eric.

looking forward to listen to so many stories from you at some point in the future.

love ya,
Pauli.

Joy and I were happy to receive a brief email from Eric in Lokassa today, reporting that he and Sheena are doing fine.

Hi Eric and Sheena,

I hope you both are well! I just finish reading your blog and I enjoyed it immensely! Reading it was like watching a documentary on the Discovery channel, amazing and very much enlightening I might add! I could actually visualize the people and places in Benin that you speak about in your various posts.

Sheena, in case you may have forgotten, I met you at the reception that Joy and Matt hosted at their home last September (I believe it was).

Take care and I will check in again soon!
